Welcome to Eungella National Park

Eungella National Park is perched on the edge of the Clarke Range escarpment and is approximately one hour drive northwest of Mackay.

'Eungella' means 'Mountains of the Mist' in the Aboriginal language and amongst the mists there are platypuses and animal friends to spot (Walter 2012). This website is a visual spotters guide to a selection of common animals that characterise Eungella National Park.

About Eungella National Park:

The national park was established in 1941 and is situated on the Clarke Range. To the north-east, Mount Dalrymple and Mount William are two separate peaks, which are the same height at 1,259 m. Eungella is the lowest part of the range and looks over the Pioneer Valley to the east (Eungella Wiki 2013).

Broken River

Broken River is only 5kms from Eungella Township and is also home to the National Park's Info Centre, where you can find further information on walks and camping (Eungella Information 2012).

History

Eungella is a unique area, comprising of several communities including, Broken River, Crediton, Dalrymple Heights and Eungella township itself. Eungella has a rich history moving through time form gold mining, timber milling, dairy farming and tourism (Eungella Information 2012).
